NGBS Green+ RESILIENCE

NGBS Green+ certification provides a streamlined, supplementary, third-party recognition for NGBS Green Certified homes based on their exceptional performance in one (or more) of six categories of green practices, including RESILIENCE. Resilient buildings are intentionally designed to stand up to natural and manmade disturbances and to maintain or regain functionality after such events. This certification is important for building homes that will last and are adapted to different climate zones and natural disaster risk areas. 

Homes demonstrating resilient construction can earn the NGBS Green+ RESILIENCE certification.

The NGBS Green+ RESILIENCE certification is one of several green building labels recognized by HUD’s Green Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP).

Compliance Criteria

Required to earn the +RESILIENCE certification:

• Design report demonstrating that the home/building has been designed and constructed to provide at least 30% enhanced resilience and durability beyond structural requirements of the IBC or IRC, as applicable 
• Demonstration of specific building practices for enhanced resilience and identification of their features and benefits in homeowner or multifamily occupant manual
• Demonstration of on-site renewable energy and a battery energy storage system
